    About Us

Visiting Custom Auto Service is like stepping back in time to an old Packard dealership—the kind of place your father or grandfather might have visited. Housed in a 1919 electric car garage and showroom, the shop preserves the grand tradition of classic automotive art with old-fashioned craftsmanship and values.

A walk through the building—once home to an early electric-car dealer and later a truck showroom—is pure delight for any car enthusiast. Though the last Packards were built in 1958, the marque thrives here. The showroom brims with memorabilia and beautifully restored examples, including a stunning 1954 Packard Caribbean and a fully restored 1937 Super Eight Formal Sedan. Their elegant proportions, flowing lines, and tasteful chrome prove why Packards are called timeless and ageless.

In their prime, Packards stood a cut above. During the 1920s the marque outsold Cadillac and earned the nickname “the American Rolls-Royce.” In the 1930s, Packards carried heads of state and Hollywood legends such as Gary Cooper and Clark Gable. Today’s collectors include Johnny Depp, Jay Leno, and writer Harlan Ellison, along with local aficionados like entrepreneur Mike Harrah, developer Gen. William Lyon, auto dealer Donnie Crevier, and radio station owner Art Astor—many of whom purchased their cars through Custom Auto Service.

Authenticity remains the hallmark of every restoration. Packards entrusted to Custom Auto Service emerge with concours-level precision and often compete successfully at the nation’s top shows. For anyone who loves classic automobiles, a visit is more than a trip to a workshop—it’s a journey into a living piece of automotive history.
